Is Online Car Buying Right For You?

Is it time for a new car? Depending on where youre located, it may be possible for you to save a substantial amount of time and money by researching and buying your new car online. Buying cars online is becoming just as normal as buying household items online. The internet is truly expanding to make it easier and cheaper for dealers to sell and buyers to buy.

Dealers love the concept; they get more visitors than the average walk in neighborhood dealership and dont necessarily have 8 car sales people sitting around reading the paper. Their overhead drops significantly while the sales and profits soar through the roof. Consumers are starting to get more comfortable with it because a high percentage of car shoppers hate the car dealership experience. But online they can get the answers many of us are afraid to ask when were sitting in front of a pushy car salesman.

In some countries such as the United Kingdom, an increasing number of people are choosing to cut out shady dealerships and buy their new auto on the internet. Now you have the luxury to shop online and take your time understanding what vehicle and what price you want. As long as you choose a reputable source, its possible to save a substantial chunk of money by purchasing your new car online.

Remember, when you buy online you cannot test out the car youre interested in..so only choose to buy online once youve driven the car (try it out at a dealership first). Even when buying online you should still do your homework and know the car you’re getting and the price it’s worth. Learn about the car you like before a dealer decides what they want you to buy, which is the car that makes them more commission, keep the ball in your court.

Use price guides such as Edmunds or Kelley Blue Book to find out the true value of the car youre buying. This will make sure youre not paying more then normal prices for your new or used car. A little homework will give you some confidence and most probably save you some cash.

Many online sites for car purchases work by local dealers offering you free price quotes (these can often be negotiated downwards). These sites are growing larger by the month and are being considered more and more by consumers in North America. Popular sites like Auto Trader which we took as a manual search from their catalogues at the store are now really building their online presence. Other sites like CarsDirect.com, CarMax.com and CarPrice.com are also starting to see sales rise.

Some sites will even offer a lowest price guarantee – so if you do find the car for less, theyll match the price. Additionally, some online car buying sites will even drive the car directly to your home. If you’re in the market for a new car and really don’t like the whole dealership experience, this just might be what you’re looking for.

Serious ease and convenience not to mention you can save thousands of pounds this way. But best of all, no hard sell.

How To Find The Best Deals On A Car Rental

How To Find The Best Deals On A Car Rental

Youre headed out on vacation and are debating whether to rent a car for your time away from home. Even if youre driving to your vacation spot, a car rental can be a prudent investment, but there are some steps you can take to make the most of your car rental pound.

Shop, shop, shop. The Internet is one of the best things that could ever have happened to comparison shopping. It takes only a little time and effort to get prices, terms and conditions for almost any product or service you can imagine, and a car rental is no exception. Start your shopping as early as possible because some car rental services will give you discounts for early reservations.

Shopping early will also help you plan your trip because youll have an accurate idea of what youre going to be spending on your car rental. Thats much better than being blindsided by a price you cant afford that will put your entire trip in jeopardy.

Beware of contracts and terms. Any car rental company is going to require a contract. This is equally true of the legitimate companies and those that are less-than-scrupulous. But you should never sign a contract without reading it carefully. Yes, it will take some time. Take it to a chair, sit down and read.

You may think theres really no need to read the entire contract. After all, the nice sales clerk has assured you that youll owe only 29 when you return the car, and that IS what the company advertises on television. But the reality is that the contract overrides both the advertisement and the contract. If the contract calls for a 29 base fee with a surcharge of 2 per mile for every mile you drive, thats what youll owe at the end of your trip.

When you pick up your car, check the odometer. Even though theyll assure you that they read the odometer and that this is the mileage indicated, you should check for yourself. If youre paying a per mile fee, even a few miles difference could be costly.

Be wary of handing out personal information to a car rental company online. Taking care of the business online is convenient and often a great way to save time. Just the same, take time to read the companys privacy policy and beware of handing out personal information such as credit card numbers and bank account numbers to companies that youve never heard of. Be sure youre dealing with a legitimate car rental company before you pay.

How to Find a Good, Clean, Used Car and Pay

How to Find a Good, Clean, Used Car and Pay Less

How to buy a Car

Buying a car is usually our second biggest investment after our home purchase and most of us will do it more than once in our life.

There is something emotional about cars, it represents our taste and style, our economic status and our character. Some women even claim that a car is a mans extension of his reproductive organ. One the other hand (the good hand :-) there are women out there that might express their exhibitionism and extravagance by choosing to drive a red flashy car for the whole world to notice them. Both sexes would agree they sometimes feel they fall in love with a certain car model.

There are people who get very existed from a small scratch on the cars lower side, as if it were their own skin. The beauty of the car, its aerodynamics shape, the gadgets inside, the seats the feel of it all play a major part in our decision making.

In our modern life its almost impossible to function without one and its expensive to acquire, to finance and to maintain.

Buying a Used Car

The question I would like to bring up here is whether its wise to buy a used car or to make an additional effort and buy a new car.

If you look at it purely from an economical stand point then its quiet obvious that due to the fact that you miss out on the heaviest depreciation hit the average car absorbs in the first two and three years its wise to buy a used car. A car of two or even three years on the road is basically a new car and in some cases didnt even finished the manufacturers original bumper to bumper warranty. (Not included labor :-(

On the average you might save on a used car anywhere between
3,000 to 8,000. In case you know how to do it via a car dealer that will buy the car for you at a car auction limited to car dealers only (for a couple of hundreds of pounds commission(you might even get a real bargain. Search: carbuyingtips.comauto-auctions

Another good reason to buy a used car is the fact you can put your hands on a bigger or better or in other words more car for the same budget as the new smaller car would have cost you.

More and more manufacturers offer “certified pre-owned” programs. Cars sold as certified pre-owned (CPO) bridge the gap between new and used. They are subject to a rigorous inspection and repair process, and usually are covered by a warranty from the manufacturer. CPO cars will usually cost a bit more, but the added warranty and peace of mind makes them a good value.

If you want to get extended warranty look at: carbuyingtips.comwarranty

Where do you get the market value of the cars, thats pretty easy, all you have to do is follow this link: Blue Book – Used Car Values at: cars.comgoindex

When purchasing a used car you should protect yourself from buying a flood damaged vehicle by doing a little research and by having the vehicle thoroughly checked by a mechanic. Rain, thunderstorms, swelling rivers and seasonal hurricanes hitting the coastlines all contribute to flooding disasters that can mean serious water damage to vehicles in those areas.

Water damage from 1999’s Hurricane Floyd ruined approximately 75,000 vehicles and more than half of those ended up back on the road. Tropical Storm Allison damaged another 95,000 in 2001 and Hurricane Ivan left more than 100,000 vehicles water-logged. The numbers for Hurricane Katrina are expected to skyrocket above half-a-million and safety experts warn that many of these flood damaged vehicles also will be dried out and offered for sale. Hurricanes and tropical storms, however, are only part of the problem.

Flooding can occur throughout the year and in any part of the country; however, auto industry analysts caution consumers that the risk of buying a flood damaged car is not limited to these areas. Flood damaged cars are often repaired cosmetically, and moved to adjacent states or even across the country where they are sold to unsuspecting consumers. These floodwaters can cause damage to vehicle computer and electrical systems, as well as potentially causing anti-lock braking and airbag systems to malfunction . World Trade Center Damaged Cars, thousands of cars were damaged in New York City on 9112001. It’s a prime example of disasters having long term effects other than the initial death and destruction. These cars will no doubt be salvaged, rebuilt, sold at car auctions and have their titles rebuilt, most likely out of state.

An important help is the nationwide history data base of the cars in terms of damages, salvaged, lemon, flooded, fraud, accidents, rental etc you can look it up at: carfax.com

In addition its recommended you have a mechanic check it out A certified, trusted mechanic will test the electrical and safety systems, two of the major components that water can affect. They can also look for signs of water damage that may not be visible to the untrained eye.

Car Donation

It is estimated that every year, more than a million Americans donated their cars. Why do they donate their car? Well, few reasons: A. The proceeds go to charity organizations and it provides for the donor a good feeling of contributing to society. B. its tax deductible (Less than it used to). C. The car is being towed or driven away by the company who arranged the deal.

Unfortunately, whether through ignorance, confusion or greed, a substantial percentage of car donors have been deducting the full “suggested retail price” – what a dealer would get for reselling your trade-in instead of the fair market value. That’s far more than the IRS had intended, costing the government millions in lost tax revenue.

The charities weren’t making much, either. Most of the donated cars were sold by the charities for a pittance at auction, and middlemen who administered the programs on behalf of the charities took a large percentage of those meager profits.

So IRS changed the rules last year. From now on, if your car is valued more than 500, the deduction is limited to the charity’s actual selling price. The donor must attach a statement of sale to the tax return in order to receive the deduction. (The charity is obligated to provide the statement within 30 days.) You are not entitled to know the deduction amount before donating your car. Although the IRS has closed the loophole in the law, there is still a way to deduct full market value of your vehicle: If the charity uses the car itself to further its specific purpose.

How To Choose Good Floor Mats For Your Car

If you are in the market for good floor mats for your car, consider the after market options instead of those available for purchase through your automobile dealership. In most instances, these after market additions are much cheaper than those items sold directly through your automobile dealership and they have more options for quality products. Typically, there are many different manufacturers of after market accessories for cars, including floor mats that make products specific for different makes and models of cars. For this reason, you are sure to find a floor mat the best fits the exact dimension of your car without having to go through the dealership.

For starters, look to a well constructed floor mat that properly fits into your vehicle. Choosing a floor mat that is too small will not properly protect the floorboard, while choosing a floor mat too large can potentially cause a slipping hazard when entering or exiting the vehicle, or even cause the driver to have an accident if the mat becomes bunched underneath the pedals. Be sure to know the make and model of your car and look to a manufacturer that uses this information in their product development.

Next, choose a floor mat out of an appropriate material. Generally, the choices range between floor mats made of carpet and those made of rubber. If you are looking for style, then choose a carpeted floor mat, but ensure the mat has a stain resistant coating like StainMaster or a similar protective product. Also, choose a carpet color that matches or coordinates well with the interior of your vehicle. Choose a rubber floor mat for hauling or for easy clean up. Especially for truck beds and trunks, having a rubber floor mat can prevent your load from moving when the car breaks or accelerates.

Finally, choose a floor mat that best goes with the interior of your car. The car customization field has grown to dramatic proportions, so consider choosing a mat that is customized to fit your style. These customized mats can include everything from your name to the number of your favorite race car driver so that your car is unique and individual. For example, have a carpeted floor mat embroidered with a specific design or some other customized element to make your vehicle stand out from the rest of the crowd. Also along this customizable line, most manufacturers produce floor mats in a wide variety of colors that can match or coordinate well with the interior of your car and allow you to create a specific look. Whatever your needs and desired look, be sure to first ensure your floor mats are made of high quality materials that will hold up to the wear and tear of constant use and periodical cleaning.

How To Choose A Car Transport Company

People who want to ship their old and new vehicles from different locations are faced with the problem of how to ship these vehicles efficiently. There are various cart shipping companies that take responsibility for shipping vehicles from one state to another and they are easily found in the yellow pages or even in the internet.

Before choosing a car transport company, it is important to take note of the reputation of the company particularly with respect to its efficiency in delivering vehicles at the agreed schedule. It is also important to note the accident rate of the trucking services owned by the said company y.

It is important to know that shipping vehicles through a cart shipping company is not like shipping any document via the regular postal or Fed-Ex services. Unlike documents which are generally predictable, the shipping of vehicles can be more complicated because of the many factors involved.

When a car shipping company commits on a date for the delivery of the vehicle, it should not be taken as an exact delivery date schedule but more probably a mere estimate of the delivery schedule. Car shipping companies are faced with several factors that can cause delay in delivery such as mechanical problems. However, delay in the delivery of vehicles is most often caused by the clients themselves.

Clients can choose to have their vehicles transported either through an open or enclosed trailer or truck. Shipping your vehicles through an open trailer can be less expensive than having it shipped through an enclosed trailer. However, the client should be prepared for any damage that can be caused due to the exposure of the vehicle to the elements like heat and rain. If you are shipping a valuable vehicle then better choose an enclosed trailer to keep it safe.

Safety is a primordial concern so you should choose a shipping company that can present you a shipping package including insurance on your vehicle against theft and unexpected damage. To avoid trouble for the shipping company, better disable any car alarm system before having your car shipped.

Clients who opt for door to door delivery should know that this does not mean the delivery of he vehicle right in your front doors. This means that the shipping company will deliver the vehicle at the nearest pick up point on you end. Do not expect a ten wheeler truck to traverse your area just to keep their door to door delivery promise.

Trucking companies usually require cash or even just an initial payment before delivery is made. Make sure that you are prepared with cash to pay the balance at the time the vehicle is delivered to you since most companies do not accept credit card payments.

To avoid delays in the delivery, make sure you instruct the company in writing as to the exact location of your pick up point. Be there before the expected arrival of your vehicle to make delivery easier and more efficient for the company.

How to Buy Your New Car- A Methodological Approach

Choosing a car is an important decision that merits careful planning. One should take number of things into consideration before buying a car. Following these steps can make the task easier and make you choose the right car for you: Decide what you intend to use the car for daily commuting; recreation; weekends and evenings out; carrying things; towing a trailer; carrying more than one passenger; driving in the city, suburbs or country. Consider factors that are important to you, such as looks, fuel efficiency, performance, reliability and safety features. Come up with a realistic budget, based on what you can afford (consider the monthly payment and cost of upkeep).
Locate a town or an area near your home with several car dealerships; check Sunday newspaper advertisements and the yellow pages. But the best option would be to locate an easy and good site for buying and selling cars online which will involve less effort and energy. Sites like http:www.indimoto.com are a great help.

Find a car that interests you and hop in it. Adjust the seat and mirrors, and check leg room in each part of the car. Ask to take a test drive. Start out on city streets and then head out to the highway. Pay attention to steering ease, turning radius, braking response and acceleration. Adjust the mirrors and radio while you’re driving to test convenience. Return to the dealership and thank the dealer. If you like the car, ask for a business card and say you will return later. Head to the next dealership and investigate other car models as described above. Ask dealers which car most closely resembles the one you previously test-drove, providing the make and model and explaining which features you liked. Test a number of models until you decide on a car, and compare these prices with those at other dealerships.

Some important tips:
Inquire about availability and delivery time, especially if you’re interested in a popular model or want special features
Factor the dealership and its sales staff into your choice. A dealership you can trust, especially one with a competent service centre on site, is worth more than money in your long future with the vehicle. You can, of course, have your car serviced at any dealer authorized by your new car’s warranty.
Start negotiations on polite and friendly terms. Comment on what you like about the car and ask questions. The intent is to make the seller comfortable.
Make your first offer. It should be lower than what you’re willing to pay, but not an insulting figure. Use the list price as a reference, remembering that dealer profit (often around 10 percent) is built into this figure.
Allow the seller to make a counteroffer. If the price is too high, say you’re not able to afford that and ask him to talk to his manager.
If the salesperson balks at your first offer, make a slightly higher one. Continue negotiating until you can agree on a price within your budget. If you can’t agree on a price, seek out another dealer. You may be able to go back and get the first dealer to underbid the second dealer
Avoid setting your heart on one particular model or make. There are hundreds of excellent vehicles on the market, and becoming attached to one of them may make you less hard-headed in your bargaining.

In our modern life its almost impossible to function without one and its expensive to acquire, to finance and to maintain.

Buying a new car is a lot of fun, the new car has its unique smell no doubt about it, the very fact you can afford to own a brand new car is a great feeling.

When is the best time to buy a new car?

There are two “best times” to buy a car. The end of December is a good time for car buyers to buy a new car. Everyone is out buying Christmas gifts, leaving new car dealer lots void of customers, motivating dealers to cut costs, and break year end sales records. Another good time to buy a car is July to October as new car dealers sell off cars at low prices to clear space for new car models. Secret factory to dealer incentives can be 1000-6000 in addition to new car consumer rebates!

How and where to search for prices:

Invoice price what the dealer pays the manufacturer has become the real negotiating point. Allowing for the dealer’s need to make a profit, the price you pay should be somewhere between sticker and invoice.

Virtually all car buying sites on the Internet show invoice and in most cases their buying tools automatically add optionpackage invoice amounts as you work your way through the process.

Any car buyer, with very little effort, can get an accurate summation of a car’s value, which immediately puts him or her in a stronger negotiating position.

Happily for the consumer, the Internet now allows a prospective buyer to uncover market conditions at any moment in various parts of the country. Search for Edmunds.com on the web.

for example, reveals the True Market Value: CarsDirect.com, which sells cars online, has its own version called Guaranteed CarsDirect price Intellichoice.com sorts out the Best Deals of the Month.

The negotiation phase and the dirty tricks:

After you made your research via the Internet, its important you make some phone calls to car dealers and ask for some written offers to be sent to you via the fax or email for the car of your dreams. That way, you can compare prices between several dealers without being pressured by a salesperson.

You would be much better off selling your old car yourself rather than to trade it in through the dealer because the dealer will have to earn some money on it as well.

Remember, everything is a negotiable, car too. Buying a new car is tricky from the moment you step into the car dealership arena, you might be manipulated by scam artists, well trained sales persons that will use every trick in their fat book of tricks to extort every last pound out of your bank account.

There is one well known trick they teach in car dealers sales courses, its called throwing a lowball, in this tactic a customer is offered a very good price on a car, Perhaps as much as 500 below competitors prices. The good deal, however, is not genuine, its only purpose is to cause a prospect to decide to buy at this dealership and not from the other dealers. Once the decision is made a raft of purchase forms are filled out, extensive financial terms are arranged. The dealer knows, customers develop a range of new reasons to support the choice they have now made.

Then something happens. All of a sudden an error in the calculations is discovered, It might be the salesman forgot to add in the cost of the air conditioner and if the customer insists on having it, then 500 must be added to the price…

The cover up operation is played sophistically, some times they let the bank handling the financing find the mistake, other times the boss is not approving the deal because wed be losing money. They make it look as if its not that big mistake as its a relatively small percentage of the price of the car and as they stress out it only brings it to be equal to competitors.

The impressive thing about the lowball tactic is its ability to make a person feel pleased with a poor choice. If anyone tries to change the originally-quoted terms or talk you into buying a different vehicle, just say “no” and go somewhere else.

If you are interested to learn about many others car dealers scams and how to avoid them go to: carbuyingtips.comscams

Until all the papers have been signed there are still ways in which a shrewd dealer may add to his profit by talking you into extras you don’t want and probably don’t need. These can include added and overpriced insurance, extended warranties, rust proofing (absolutely unnecessary), paint or fabric protection, anti-theft plans, and more. Smile and firmly turn them all down.

Finally, before you drive away, do a careful inspection of the car, looking for scratches or dents; anything that mars the perfect finish. If you’re not happy, get a written agreement (known as a Due Bill). It means you have the right to later return the vehicle in order that flaws can be corrected.
